American Board of Medical Specialties - ABMS
Virginia Premier Health Plan, Inc. encourages all physicians to receive and maintain ABMS board certification. This certification is widely recognized by physicians, healthcare institutions, and patients as an essential tool to judge that a physician has the knowledge, skills and experience for providing high quality healthcare within their given specialty.
The American Board of Medical Specialties is a not-for-profit organization that contains 24 medical specialty Member Boards. The function of ABMS primarily is to assist its Member Boards in developing and implementing educational and professional standards to evaluate and certify physician specialists. General and Subspecialty Certificates are available for physicians.
